Van der Woude Syndrome

The disease affects the face and the mouth of the person. However the severity of the effect varies from one person to another. The disease is at times genetic in character but at times it might be caused due to some unknown reasons. Though the disease is inherited the symptoms of the disease may start showing after a number of years. The main symptoms of the disease are that a split might appear at the roof of the mouth, appearance of small pits on the lower lip. The medical treatment of the disease is still not known till date however the symptoms of the disease can be reduced by plastic surgery which usually cost the person a lot.
