Uluru or the Rock is one of the biggest rock formation situated in the Famous Uluru Kata Tjuta National park in Central Australia. Uluru is said to be the world’s second largest monolith after Mount Augustus which is also in Australia. Uluru is even an island mountain, left after the steady erosion of actual mountain range. The magnificent feature of Uluru is its lack of parting and jointing at bedding surfaces and its homogeneity which leads to the scarcity of development of its soil and slopes. This kind of uniqueness has led to its existence till today while its surrounding rocks are eroded. In order to describe and map the geological history of this area, geologists refer this rock as the Multitjulu Arkose. It is considered as one of the sedimentary formations filling the Amadeus Basin.
